CVDPREVENT has been developed to support the ambition in the NHS Long Term Plan to prevent 150,000 strokes, heart attacks and cases of dementia over the next ten years. It is a national audit of GP records to help primary care understand how many people with CVD, or conditions that lead to a higher risk of developing CVD, are potentially undiagnosed, under treated or over treated.

Health Innovation KSS is participating in the initial pilot of CVDPREVENT, where we will share experiences of using the data, applying improvement approaches, developing case studies, and monitoring progress, to help others learn from our work.

We will work closely with partners across KSS to support systematic quality improvement using the findings from annual audit reports, and the associated data & improvement tool, to reduce health inequalities and improve outcomes for individuals and populations.

The data & improvement tool enables users to drill down into the data, showing information at National, ICS, PCN and individual practice levels, to enable teams to understand the performance of their services, and potential improvement opportunities.

The CVDPREVENT audit is delivered by the NHS Benchmarking Network, the Office for Health Improvement & Disparities (OHID), the National Cardiovascular Intelligence Network (NCVIN) team, and NHS Digital.
