Serenity Integrated Mentoring (SIM) is a mental health workforce model that brings together the police and community mental health services and aims to better support people with complex mental health needs.

The Health Innovation Network was involved in SIM between 2018 and 2020; our involvement ended in March 2020, along with our role in the other national adoption and spread programmes for 2018-20.

For more information please visit the SIM page on the national Health Innovation Network website.

Please note that Professor Tim Kendall, National Clinical Director for Mental Health, has asked Mental Health Trusts to review their models of care for service users experiencing cyclical and regular crises including, where adopted, SIM. The outcome of these reviews will be considered by NHS England in the Autumn. The Health Innovation Network has welcomed the review; read more here.

The Health Innovation Network’s responses to two Freedom of Information Act requests about SIM are available here.
